Organisational Development

WHAT IS ORGANISATIONAL DEVELOPMENT?

Organisational development is currently considered the set of methods and processes implemented to maximise organisations’ human potential while fostering their growth. It operates on three dimensions simultaneously: rational, emotional and relational.

Organisations undergo profound transformations at all levels, affecting their structures and processes. Organisational development can take various forms and address a multitude of issues. According to recent findings, current intervention approaches primarily focus on redefining leadership and management approaches, evolving engagement and culture to a higher level, introducing continuous learning, implementing employee recognition systems and more.

WHAT IS THE IMPACT OF ORGANISATIONAL DEVELOPMENT ON ORGANISATIONS?

Contemporary organisations experience many complex, increasingly rapid changes simultaneously. These changes may include reorganisations, mergers and acquisitions, specific crises, periods of decline or rapid growth, process optimisation, leadership changes, technological advancements and much more.

Although these challenges are routine for organisations, they often lead to difficulties, resistance and even failure. Manager and employee commitment is therefore essential for any changes to the organisation’s operations, processes and methods.

When implementation projects and plans do not align with employees’ experience or are poorly communicated, their credibility is compromised and employee buy-in can be significantly diminished. Ensuring effective change management and maintaining communication channels between different stakeholders is crucial.

An analysis and diagnosis approach is necessary to ensure all stakeholders are engaged. It is essential for the organisation to analyse human impacts, identify threats, identify opportunities and minimise resistance to change. Organisational development is made relevant by using recognised methodology and a human development-focused approach in organisational projects. Organisational development is not a method but rather an approach to analysing and addressing situations and projects.

THE ESPACE STRATÉGIES APPROACH

Our approach is inclusive, participative and collaborative. It involves the client directly in the exercise, whether it is organisational diagnostics, strategic coaching, leadership or strategic planning. At the end of the process, the client has already integrated the solutions identified in the workshops, as they have been part of the entire reflection. This enables them to embrace the tools for developing autonomy. We encourage our clients to delve deeper during the workshops and commit to taking an outside, independent perspective to evaluating ideas.

Centre Lajeunesse and Patro Le Prévost

Le Centre Lajeunesse and Patro Le Prévost enlisted Espace Stratégies to ensure a successful merger. The goal was to support their strategic reflection committee and both boards of directors in developing a new organisational model (structure, governance, labour relations, service offerings, etc.) and in negotiations with the borough. They achieved a harmonious merger by successfully navigating the challenge of blending the different cultures of the organisations.
